How to Pack Lamps
Lamps are delicate items that require special protection – both due to fragile components (glass, lampshades) and irregular shapes.
1Disassembly
- ✓Remove the lampshade – pack it separately.
- ✓Remove bulbs – pack separately in bubble wrap.
- ✓Remove decorative elements, crystals, and pendants.
- ✓Fold or remove the arm of a floor lamp (if possible).
2Packing the base
- ✓Wrap the lamp base in bubble wrap – min. 2 layers.
- ✓Coil the cable and tape it to the base.
- ✓Place in a box matching the size.
- ✓Fill empty spaces with paper or foam.
3Packing the lampshade
- ✓Wrap the lampshade in tissue paper or thin paper (not bubble wrap directly on fabric).
- ✓Place in a separate box – the lampshade must not be crushed or compressed.
- ✓Insert filler between the lampshade and the box walls.
- ✓Label the box: „THIS SIDE UP" i „CAUTION".
💡
Fabric lampshades are best wrapped in clean cloth instead of film – this prevents discolouration.
4Hanging lamps (chandeliers)
- ✓Remove all crystals, glass elements, and pendants – pack separately.
- ✓Wrap chandelier arms separately in bubble wrap.
- ✓Place the whole piece in a large box with plenty of filler.
- ✓Coil electrical cables and secure with tape.
⚠️
Lamps with glass shades are transported at the customer's risk – glass is not covered by insurance.
